Yes, I know… you guys are probably super tired of hearing about this!
First, the mission we work with in Haiti is run by Jose and Jody Castillo. They are wonderful; I love them and their precious children so much! They have recently realized they can no longer afford to rent the home they are living in. Their rent is as much as it would cost them to build a new home closer to the mission campus. There are a few more details that you can read about at this link http://lifeoffering.org/2013/01/21/our-biggest-need/. Most importantly, I want to ask for your prayers! They are trusting that the Lord will provide and He will work as He sees fit. Lift them up in prayer as they make His name famous in Haiti. If you can help in any other way, please do! Whether it's financial or not, please lift up these brothers and sisters!

Moving on to the trip I'll be taking in March. I said in the last post about Haiti that I wasn't going to send out support letters because my sister already sent some out for her mission trip. I decided to go ahead and send out a few but once I started addressing them I just ended up doing the same amount I normally do. I don't really know why but there were just some people I was compelled to send one to and before I knew it I had stuffed and sealed fifty envelopes! So, there are definitely some people I sent a letter to who are also avid readers of my blog. If you have to read this twice, I'm sorry! But if you usually receive a letter from me, expect to get it soon! They went out today.
Here is a copy of my letter for those of you who I didn't send one to!
I
am writing to tell you about an exciting ministry opportunity I have with The
Wesley Foundation at Texas Tech. On
March 8-17, over Spring Break, I have the chance to share God’s love with the
people of Haiti for the third time. (If you are friends with me on Facebook or follow my blog
you’ve probably heard a lot about this already.) I am thrilled to go back and see my beloved friends and serve in the town I’ve spent the past two years loving! I actually wasn’t planning on going
this year (which is why this letter is going out so late), but the Lord did His
thing and revealed to me in big ways that His plan for spring break was
greater that mine could ever be.
You can read more about that process on my blog at http://www.reflectionsofacollegegirl.blogspot.com.
Haiti is a place I have completely fallen in love
with. I am blessed beyond measure
to be given the chance to rekindle the relationships that first began almost
two years ago. We will be
traveling to “The Mole” which is near St. Louis du Nord, Haiti in the Northwest
corner of the country. Our mission
team will be doing hut-to-hut evangelism, VBS with children at villages in the
surrounding area, loving on orphans daily, helping out with some construction, and hosting a youth conference for the young people of The Mole. In Haiti, teens are very much
forgotten. Teams come in all the time willing to
play with babies and minister to children, yet so often the teenagers are
left feeling like outsiders. I am
so passionate about teens, specifically teenaged girls. This youth conference is usually the
highlight of my trip! I love
getting to know the girls and encouraging their hearts toward the Lord. If you would like more information
about the group we are working with, or are just interested in the details
about this specific mission, the web address is http://www.nwhcm.org.
I want to thank you for being a part of my life and for supporting me in the past.
I recognize that receiving a letter asking for thousands of dollars
every year can get tiring. I pray
that God’s will be done in you and in me. I will continue to raise money in every way possible
trusting that the Lord will provide and be glorified through that. I’m excited to see how the Lord works
through missions in my life.
Though I have no idea how exactly He’ll work, I know that He has placed
a yearning in my heart to go to the nations and I trust that He will do with
that which He desires.
I am asking that you pray for this ministry. Pray for the Lord’s will in our lives and the lives of the Haitian people.
Pray that as humble servants God will use us to bring Glory to His
name. Pray for the Northwest Haiti
Christian Mission. The NWHCM
campus in The Mole is run by Jose and Jody Castillo. They are incredible and I ask that
you lift them up in prayer as they make His name famous in the nation of
Haiti. I am also requesting
financial support. I ask that you
seek the Lord and His will for your support. The trip will cost $2,000, with the total amount due by
March 1st. Any amount
you are able to donate would be helpful. I am fully trusting that the Lord will provide my way for
this trip. If you have any
questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call Al Martin at The Wesley
Foundation (806) 762-8749, or me on my cell (469) 734-8382. Thank you so much for your love,
support, and prayers.
In
Christ,
Meredith
Moorman
