A Call to Urgency

Hi friends!

I hope today treats you well.  I have a super fun girls day planned with some of my Tech friends so I'm really excited!  It should be a blast.

This is Bill and Dave.  We're gonna have a super fun day! (update: we also ended up hanging out with our friend Hunter! Super great.)

Today's post may be a little more somber than usual.  I love to write about my life, recipes, crafts, and just the fun stuff!  Who wouldn't love that?  Today though I've been thinking about something else.  For the past month or two I've been hearing about these tragic and untimely deaths.  I can count four for sure that were young people dying in a freak accident or an unexpected event.  It's made me so sad to think about what it must be like for their friends and family.  I didn't know any of them personally, but people I know and love did.  That's what makes it so weird for me.  I didn't know them so I'm not grieving their lives.  But at the same time, they are loved ones of people I love.  It's an odd place to be but it's made me do a lot of thinking.

When young adults between the ages of 17 and 21 come to the end of their life it's hard to swallow.  It's confusing and difficult to understand.  Nonetheless, it is what God has been using to make me realize the urgency with which I should be sharing the Gospel.  How tragic would it be for a young person to have their life ended so early and not know Jesus?  I can't even fathom how I would feel if I knew I could have been the one to share with them or disciple them.  Every day I come in contact with people who don't know Jesus...why don't I feel more compelled to share with them the joy and freedom there is in Christ!?

Now I'm not saying I think we should go around preaching at every person we see.  That of course would most likely do more harm than good.  The point is, I should be covering each day in prayer and asking the Lord to show me the people who need a smile today.  Maybe He'll show me someone who just needs to talk or needs advice or even a hug.  I love Jesus and I know I'll see His face in heaven one day.  But the reality is that not everyone will.  Some won't spend eternity in paradise, and that's something we all have to come to terms with.

Anyway, I share all of that as a way for me to remember exactly what the Lord has been doing in my heart lately and hopefully as some accountability to make some changes in my life.  I want to be way more open to sharing with people at any moment the Lord prompts me to.

This life is so short.  I hope you can feel the urgency.
