A Post About Adoption

Today is my craziest school day!  I have class from 9am-9:50am, I have a TA job from 10am-10:50am, I have my internship from 11am-1:30pm, and then I have a class from 2pm-4:50pm!  Phew.  It's a crazy day.  I'm getting a bit of a break right now because my 9am let out early!  Thanks Jesus for the little things :)

Since today is my first day as an intern at Adoption Covenant, it's only fitting to talk about adoption.  I have a HUGE heart and passion for adoption.  I love the imagery that's involved, I love how it fulfills our calling to care for the widow and orphan, I love the sweet faces that become family when they wouldn't have without adoption!  I also love how the Lord has gifted us and given us passions in so many different areas.  I know people who would love to adopt an infant, but aren't as passionate about other ages.  I know people who want to adopt older children (8-14ish) and have a desire to see them part of a family regardless of how late in life it happens.  Personally, if the Lord called me to it, I would adopt children with disabilities, delays or physical development problems.  Not everyone could do that.  I find it so beautiful the way the Lord molded each of us so uniquely, gifting us with strong desires to serve Him in such specific ways.

"And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me." Matthew 18:5

But I want to move back to the imagery of adoption.  What I mean when I say that is how the Lord has ADOPTED us to be His children.  We don't deserve to be in His presence, there is nothing we could have done to gain that adoption.  It was what He did on the cross and His decision to adopt us into the Kingdom that allows us to be His children!  People, that is GOOD NEWS!  I am overjoyed by the love, grace, and righteousness of my God!

"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows- this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy." Psalm 68:5-6a

Well, it's still Wednesday and it's still my craziest school day.  Headed to my TA job now...have a blessed day, friends!

P.S. I heard from Candy this morning and it MADE MY DAY! (that's my friend from China who stayed with us this summer!)
