Hello Sweet Cheer: March 2014

Insta Recap on a Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday, friends!!

Here's a quick Instagram recap!

So, it's true I graduate from college in FIFTY-THREE days!  I cannot even believe it.

I took last week off of blogging, unintentionally, since I was on Spring Break.  I got to go home and spend some time with my family which was super nice!  I came back to Lubbock on Wednesday afternoon so that I could work Thursday and Friday.  It was nice to spend the weekend here, recouping from the break and preparing to get back into the swing of things for just six more weeks!  It's been a little hectic around here and things are only about to get more insane!  I'm loving my new job so far!  I've gotten to work with my favorite age-group (4-6 years) and am getting to know my co-workers pretty well.  I'm hoping I'll get to stay with the same class for the rest of the semester!  I love the kids and the teachers that are in there.

The Lord has been teaching me a lot about prayer, lately.  He's been making it clear to me how important it is to be in constant communication with Him and to spend dedicated time with Him every day.  I've been working on being in prayer for the people in my life more heavily, spending time reflecting in prayer, and making time for the Lord to respond to me in prayer rather than just talking His ear off!  I am so thankful for where I'm at right now.  God has provided people who love me, challenge me, and lead me!  I couldn't be more grateful for that.

Have a great day!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends!

Linking up today!

Today is my first day of Spring Break!  It's finally here and I'm so ready for some time off from school!  I plan to spend the next five days laying by the pool... and hopefully getting a sweet taste of summer!  Dreaming of this...

But before that can happen...my roommates have all left for break and I'm still in Lubbock so I'm spending today relaxing at home by myself!  I love love love the rare times I get to be in complete solitude.  I'm excited about spending some time with Jesus and just relaxing!

I started my new job yesterday!  It was a lot of fun and I loved getting to work with sweet kiddos again.  Sometimes I forget how great it feels to be hugged by a three-year-old for no good reason!  And on that note, I'm seriously missing some kiddos today!  These are kids I've nannied in the past and I've been missing them like crazy.

 Aden and Morgan!

Sydney and Peyton!

Another goal for Spring Break is to get my nails done!  It's been too long and my cuticles have been so bad because of the weather!  I'm so ready for spring and summer so I can say goodbye to this crazy dry skin!  Maybe something like this...

And to finish out this post... this adorable video!

Have a great weekend, friends!

Insta Monday + I'm not on Spring Break

Happy Monday, friends!

While most of Texas is still laying their sweet heads on their pillows, outside soaking up the sun, or on a plane headed out of the country, the city of Lubbock is going on as usual.  It's school, work, studying, exams, etc.  For some weird reason all the universities in town along with all three school districts in town decided to push spring break back a week!  I normally wouldn't mind, because who really cares if you still get a break, right!?  Except this year.  I'm spending my break at home with my family this year and having the week after the rest of the state means my parents will be at work and my sister will be in school the entire time I'm home.  Womp, womp, womp.  So it's a huge bummer but there's nothing I can do about it!  The countdown is officially at: FIVE days until I get to see my wonderful family!

Here's my Instagram feed from the week!

Blogged about this last week.  No explanation needed!

Friday night with my roommates consisted of Chick-fil-A, break and bake cookies, and a movie!

Part 2
Like I have mentioned many times before our friend Hillary is finally home from Africa!  She and her sister arrived stateside last Sunday, and she got here to Lubbock last night!  We are so happy she's back and excited for her to live with us for these last two months of the school year.

Five on Friday

Linking up with these ladies today!

ONE.  If you missed my big announcement on Tuesday go check it out...the future is beginning to look a little more clear!

TWO.  I'm getting REALLY excited about my sweet little sister moving to Lubbock for her freshman year of college! First of all, I can hardly believe she's about to graduate high school...I mean can we rewind to the days when her little mouth couldn't even pronounce my full name?! I swear I was "Dee-Dee" for years. Anyway, here's a sweet picture...oh and a screenshot to convey my excitement. August 16th can't come soon enough, people!

 This was us in 2007!

And this was us in 2013!

THREE.  One countdown I'm trying NOT to focus on...is the amount of time until I GRADUATE.FROM.COLLEGE.  I mean, first of all, that is the craziest thought!  Have four years really passed me by already?  People looove to say "cherish this time", "it will be over before you know it" and here I am...a senior...71 days from walking the stage...and I still feel like I've just arrived in Lubbock.  I still feel the excitement of being on this campus, I still feel like it's been mere moments since I moved into room 403A in Hulen Hall.  And I'm beginning to believe those cliche statements.

FOUR.  I've chosen a verse to pray and cling to for this week!  I've got girls doing the same for me and I'm doing it for them!  "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." John 6:63

FIVE.  It's GORGEOUS outside today!  It's been a beautiful 81 degrees.  Unfortunately, I've been told it's supposed to snow tomorrow...so there's that.  Texas probs!

That's it!  Have a great weekend!

Singing Praises to My King!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Today has been a little crazy...in a good way!

Lately I've really been stressing about all the transitions I'm going through and about to go through.  In a few month's time I'll be moving out of my current house and into a new one with a brand new roommate!  I'll be leaving behind my three best friends.  Of course we'll still be living in the same town so it's not that terrible but it's still a huge change!  I'll also be out of school and working full-time.  I'll be transitioning out of a college-aged GC (Gospel Community aka small group) and into an adult GC. I'm also in a brand new relationship, (which is super great and so much fun) but is still a transition.

Yesterday I got really emotional and discouraged about my job search.  I've been looking and applying for jobs for over a month now and I just wasn't having any luck.  My degree is Human Development and Family Studies so I was getting frustrated about what I'm actually going to be qualified to do.  I wasn't relying on Jesus and was allowing some anxiety to creep in and take over.  I knew things would work out in the end but I was struggling to have the right attitude about it.  Last night as I was falling asleep I had Joshua 1:9 running through my head, which says, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Over the past few days I've been realizing that I need to start looking for positions in childcare.  That's what I'm good at, that's what I have experience in and ultimately that's what I'm qualified to do without any further schooling!  So today I decided to put in an application at a preschool here in town.  I went up to the facility, filled out an application and got hired on the spot!!!!  I was floored and so excited!  I get to work part-time while I'm still in school and will move into a full-time teaching position after graduation this summer!  I am thankful and blessed and couldn't be more at peace about the situation!  I have been praising Jesus ALL DAY for His incredible provision!  When I was ready to throw in the towel He provided for me a great opportunity!  I am so in love with my Savior and I can't even put into words how good He is!

So that's my update for today!  I'm staying in Lubbock, I have a full-time job and now I just need to find a rental house!  That'll be cake compared to everything else ;)  Graduation here I come!!!!

Also...this sweet friend is BACK IN THE US!  And she will be back in Lubbock and in our arms in just FIVE days!!
