Hello Sweet Cheer: June 2014

Good News Monday!

Good morning, friends!

I have great news today...I have officially accepted a position as an administrative assistant at a dental office here in town!  And I start tomorrow!  I'm so excited and I think this will be a really great fit for me.  I want to say a huge thank you to all my friends, family and readers who have been thinking about and praying for me through this job search!  I'm so grateful to have such incredible people in my life.

I have a lot more to share about the job hunt, my journey to accepting this position and the entire process.  I'll save it for another day but I'll tease you with the fact that I am closer to Jesus and trusting Him more than ever after the last few weeks.  He is good and His plans are perfect.  I couldn't be more blown away by His continuous grace and mercy for me, especially in the times when I lack trust and faith in His perfect Lordship.  If you don't know Him or haven't committed your life to Him, I encourage you to seek out a Gospel centered church in your area.  Or send me a message if you just have questions!  He is good and He wants to see your life reconciled to Him.

On a bit of a different note, I want to share a couple of the outfits I tried out throughout the interview process!  My mom was a doll and offered to buy me some staple pieces to help me land the perfect job!  And it worked...thanks Mamacita!  Here they are...a few different combinations I tried.

Things in my world have been pretty wonderful as of late.  I've secured this job, my relationships are doing swell and my Jesus is sweet, as He always is!  I want to quickly give a note of gratitude to all you people who read this thing.  I love writing so much, and let's be real I just enjoying journaling and happen to share it with the world!  This small corner of the internet has been a blessing in my life for over two years now and I am just enamored with this fun hobby!  I am always thinking of ways I can better my writing, my pages, my style and so much more.  Thank you so much for taking a few minutes every couple of days to read about my endless complaints, worries, fears, joys, lessons learned and everything in between.  You are appreciated!

Have a great week my friends, I'll be back with a few days of work under my belt and hopefully a festive July 4th post!  Love you guys.  For real.

A Few Confessions

Happy Friday, friends!
I'm linking up with Leslie today, I've got a few confessions to share.

O N E.  I have to confess that I succeeded in cooking dinner this week...ZERO times.  I had my menu all planned out and I was ready to make it happen!  Then my boyfriend got sick on Monday, I got sick on Tuesday, and we went out with parents on Wednesday.  Last night I went to the grocery store with every intention of grabbing the ingredients for some Bang Bang Chicken and then I couldn't find a lot of the things it called for.  So I gave up and we ate chili dogs.  Can I just say, who wants to make dinner when they're sick?!  Not. Me.  So yes, I feel like crap for not cooking this week but there's always next week!  I'll try again!

T W O.  I have to confess that because I was sick this week I had to reschedule BOTH of my interviews I had lined up.  So I moved one to next week and the other I did yesterday.  I reallllly want this job so please pray that it works out.  If and when I can share details, I will!

T H R E E.  I have to confess that I pictured my post-grad life as this amazing, freedom filled, cake walk of a life.  It's just not that, people.

F O U R.  I have to confess that I am FIVE. DAYS. behind on my Psalms reading plan.  Yikes!  I could make all kinds of excuses why I haven't read this week but I won't.  I'll leave it at that.  And I'll leave you with a verse that has been on my mind this week.
"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?  As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news?" Romans 10:14-15
I just wanted to share this verse because Jesus has been showing me how selfish I am over the past few weeks.  He's been revealing areas of my life that I like to keep to myself.  I like to push Him out of places that I'm comfortable.  He has shown me how sharing the Gospel is and should be a DAILY task.  Thank you Jesus for showing me the broken places in my heart!

Have a great weekend, friends!!

Monday Morning Rambles

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

I've officially finished working at the preschool, I have two interviews lined up for this week (second interviews!) so I'm going to take advantage of this time off by being productive and enjoying some freedom from the weekly grind!

I want to post my menu for the week again and see if I can make it happen this week!!

Monday :: Creamy Parmesan Broiled Fish, Rice, Salad
Tuesday :: Bang Bang Chicken, French Fries
Wednesday :: Night off (my parents will be in town so we are going out to eat!)
Thursday :: Green Beans, Chicken and Potatoes (one of my favs)
Friday :: Leftovers

I also wanted to quickly point out a few verses in Psalms!  Yesterday morning I spent some time before church getting caught up on my reading plan, I missed a few days this week :/  But here are some verses that really stuck out to me...

26:3 "For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness."
28:7 "The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him."
30:1 "I will extol You, O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me."

If you're the praying kind, I'd appreciate prayers of peace for this week!  I know the Lord has me and He has a perfect plan for where I'm supposed to be!  But going to interviews can still be nerve wracking.  Pray that I fully put my trust and hope in Jesus this week and always!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends!  Let's get to it.

O N E.  Riot Studios has a new movie coming out!  Check out this link.

T W O.  I'm still on the job hunt and I've got a few interviews lined up for next week!  I'll share details once everything is final!

T H R E E.  As much as I'm ready for a new job situation, I sure am going to miss these precious babies!

F O U R.  In sports news...the Texas Tech baseball team is in the College World Series!  That's super exciting!  I'm learning more about baseball every day and am finding it more and more entertaining :)  The World Cup is happening...I don't care at all about it, but it's current.  Lastly, the Spurs lead the NBA Finals over the Heat 3 games to 1.  I've loved watching this team play exciting basketball!  Game 5 is on Sunday!

F I V E.  I started the week off with a menu and attempted to stick to it!  I did alright!  I did exactly what I planned on Monday and Tuesday, we took Wednesday off for small group and then last night we ate at happy hour!  So I tried, and hopefully next week will turn out a bit better.  But here are some pictures of the meals I did make!

Have a great weekend!

What's on the Menu + Insta Update

Happy Monday, bloggie friends!

This weekend I went home and got to watch my baby sister graduate high school!  It was so much fun and we even had a little joint grad party for the two of us the day after her graduation!  I am so so proud of Camille and I can't wait for her to OFFICIALLY be a Red Raider in two short months!  Here are some pictures from the weekend followed by a quick Instagram update.

Here's my instagram feed from the week!

Quickly, I wanted to share some verses I read today!  I'm reading through the Psalms right now and it's been so encouraging!

"Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from You." Psalm 16:1-2

"You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11

I'm going to start something new today!  I need to be better about cooking dinner throughout the week so I'm going to post my weekly menu!  Here goes!

Monday :: Fish tacos, Fruit salad
Tuesday :: Crockpot barbacoa, Mexican rice
Wednesday :: Night off for small group
Thursday :: Crockpot chicken, Greens beans, Macaroni and cheese
Friday :: Leftovers

Have a great week, friends!!

It's Monday!

Happy Monday, friends!

[blogging from my mobile device today]

I have an interview today so keep your fingers crossed that I land this job!  I'll share details about it soon.

My boyfriend introduced me to a music group yesterday...and they are amazing! They're called Johnnyswim. They're a married couple and they have this sort of indie, acoustic, cool sound that I just love!  You should definitely check them out.

Can I just comment on the real world for a second?  It's super cool cause all we do is work, and when I clock out I'm done!  Which is amazing.  But let me tell you...the paying for rent, bills, groceries and every little thing I need part - is no fun at all!  Haha.  But I'm getting used to it and definitely enjoying the independence!

I'm reading through the Psalms and here's something I was encouraged by today.  "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night." Psalm 1:2

This is such good reminder to stay in the scriptures and DELIGHT in it! No matter what we're struggling with, we are commanded to meditate on the Word and allow it to sink into our hearts. And take joy in following God's commands for us!  What a beautiful thought.

Have a great week, friends!!
