Hello Sweet Cheer: August 2014

Weekend Update

Hi friends!  Hope you had a SWELL weekend!  I sure did.

A few fun things for today...

O N E
Ryan and I bought a car last week...uhhhh what? Yes, and it's so exciting because it's our first big purchase as a couple!

T W O
School started today!  Which is exciting for me because that means work will slow down just a little bit with all the kiddos back in the classroom!  Not as much time for visits to the dentist :)  It's also SUPER weird to me.  Just a year ago I was so excited to start my last fall semester as a college student!  And here I am now, a working woman, and I can hardly believe college is actually over for good!

(L-R) First day of senior year with my very best friend, first day of Spring semester

Tonight was a recipe re-do for dinner!  I made barbecue chicken baked potatoes one night last week and for some reason they did not want to bake all the way through.  I was so sad because it would have been such a fun meal!  Ryan was so patient with me and we ate them anyway, with just a little more effort.  And tonight they were perfect!  :)  Oh, happy day!

We had such a wonderful weekend visiting with our families!  We got to see my family in Austin/San Marcos and we got to see Ryan's family in San Antonio!  It was just delightful.  And we got to take the new car on it's first trip and she did GREAT!  Some pics for your enjoyment...

Can you even believe these ADORABLE baby pictures?! Because I'm in love. But, duh ;)

It's RAINING!  It smells wonderful, sounds beautiful and makes my heart swoon when the thunder booms.  (How's that for poetic?!)

I couldn't be happier right now!  I get to spend every day loving my boyfriend, getting to know my friends at work, spending lunches and coffee talks and breakfasts with my bestest gal-pals, and in everything I get to praise my Savior!  For His work on the cross and for the way that changes me today.  I am so so thankful and in such a beautiful place right now.

Happy Monday!

Update: My Life is Confusing

Hi friends!  Happy Tuesday!  I haven't blogged in over two weeks...yet again!  Who am I these days?

Let me tell you, it was so much easier to put off homework and blog instead than it is to put off exhaustion and blog instead!  I do LOOOVE this place here, it's my own, it's sweet, I just love it.  But working 40 hours a week is no easy task, my friends!

So here I am, back, to make another effort to get back into a routine of blogging.

And let me say this...I am not getting back into a routine of blogging because I feel like I have to.  I'm not doing it because I feel like I should, or I owe anyone that.  I'm not doing it because I feel the need to tell the world about my *perfect life* (SPOILER ALERT: it isn't so perfect after all).  I'm not doing it because I want to please anyone.

I'm doing it because I love to write.  I'm doing it because this is a place for me to express my emotions; excitement, love, joy, sadness, grief and so much more.  This is a place I want to be.  I want to be laying in my bed typing away in the evenings.  I want to be sitting in a coffee shop filling my ears with worship music as I pour out my heart onto this screen.  I want to share my life with the world, not for the sake of my fame, but for the fame of my Savior!  I want this to be a place where readers can get to know me, sure.  But more than that, I want readers to see through my life and into the heart of Jesus.  I want readers to feel that there is more to this life than this life!  My desire is to see hearts won to Christ, and this is just one way I want to live that out.

Before I get to some updates...I titled this post "My Life is Confusing".  Not because I don't know who I am or what I believe or where I'll be in the next year.  But because I'm trying to navigate the post-college-not-yet-married-working-full-time life.  It's a little crazy and pretty confusing but I'm figuring it out!

I've been working!  And totally loving it.  This job is such a blessing!  I love the work, it keeps me busy and challenged.  And I love the people I work with!  They are so much fun!

This past weekend my parents came into town and my baby sister moved into her dorm at Texas Tech!  It's crazy to think that it really has been FOUR years since I was in that place.  It blows my mind.  I know I'm going to love watching her experience all the new things college has to bring.  I just hope and pray that she will love it, too!

She was on yellow team in 2014, I was on purple team in 2010!

I got to be there when we picked her up after camp, just like my parents did for me!

I got to be there as she walked into her dorm room for the first time!

And I got to watch her set it all up!  So much fun.

I don't think she's quite finished with all the details...but I have to say her Batman wall looks pretty awesome!

And if you have incredible attention to detail you may notice that the accent pillows on my bed has been recovered and are now on Camille's bed!  I love that so so much,  I feel like there's a peice of my freshman year in her freshman year. <3 I am LOVING that my baby sister lives in the same town as me.  This is so much fun and I'm so excited to share Lubbock with her.  I'm still head over heels for my boyfriend, loving being his girl.  And excited to one day be his wife!  I'm still looking forward to joining an adult GC at my church in a few weeks, and I'll start serving in the kid's ministry soon!  Things are pretty okay around here!

I think that's all I can muster for today.  Have a wonderful day my friends, and I'll be back on Friday this week!  Love love.

I am a failure of a blogger!  I haven't blogged since July 14th...not because I haven't thought about it, but because I just haven't FELT like it.  I've wanted to write, but haven't known what to write about.  So today I'm taking the plunge.  I love putting posts together so here goes, my friends...!

Today is a sweet day.  I'm sitting at Starbucks across from my best friend, enjoying the sights and sounds of Saturday morning.  There isn't a whole lot I love more than Saturday mornings.  They bring the joy of the weekend, yummy breakfast dates, tons of coffee, sometimes reading, and almost always relaxing and enjoying each other's company.  Yes, I think Saturday mornings can stay.

At this point I'm pretty well settled into my job, I've been there a month now and I'm loving it.  I enjoy going to work every morning and I'm not completely dreading having to wake up before the sun!  That's a good sign!  ;)  Summer is quickly beginning to fade, football season will be upon us before we know it, and all my friends (and my boo) will be back on the grind of college classes.  It's going to be totally weird to not go back in the fall.  As much as I definitely don't want to and I don't think I'll miss it, at least not this semester, it will still be crazy not to be there.  I'll go through the third week of August without being handed a syllabus, being asked my major or what I want to do when I graduate, having to say something interesting about myself, or trying to make something up to answer what I want to get out of a course...it will be very different.  But I'm excited about this change and super excited about what the next year will hold for me!

Now for something fun....

 a) getting my nails done with my gals

 b) my besties and my boo

c) this picture

 d) coffee

e) these pillows

     Have a great weekend, lovelies!
