Wedding Week | Bachelorette

Happy Memorial Day, friends! I am so thankful to the men and women who risk their lives daily and those who have given their lives for our freedom in this country. Thank you as well to the families of these men and women who have made just as difficult of sacrifices. So so grateful.

Today I'm starting a series called Wedding Week! It's getting close to being six months since we got married so I want to recap all the fun things that happened! I also really need to mail out my thank you cards...I am a failure of a bride. My bachelorette party was so much fun! My best friends and I spent about a day and a half the week leading up to the wedding celebrating together! The event started Wednesday evening of that week. I got off of work at noon and went immediately to get my hair trial done and take bridal portraits at the venue! It was a lot of fun. I just loved being in my dress and looking forward to everything that was to come.

After bridals I went home, changed, and headed to start the festivities! Wednesday evening we got all dressed up and headed to dinner at Triple J, followed by my first time going to Piano Bar!

We had such a blast! I loved just getting to hang with all my girls before the big day!

The next day, they cooked a yummmmmy breakfast complete with mimosas, coffee, fruit and chocolate chip pancakes! They know me so well. Breakfast is the best! We just lounged around in our pajamas for the rest of the morning.

Then we headed over to the nail salon to get manis and pedis...which is one of my most FAVORITE things to do in general. (I got a shellac manicure in a muted pink/purple color and red on my toes!) We followed that up with a tour and tasting at Llano Estacado Winery! It was so much fun.

After that we headed back to the house for snacks and opening gifts! I had such a wonderful time with them, celebrating and enjoying girl time. I am truly so thankful for the time and effort the girls put into planning this for me! I love each of you dearly!

Weekend Recap || THE DRIVE-IN

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I intended to write this post yesterday but I got busy!  So yes, I'm recapping our weekend on a Tuesday...and the good news is we're one day closer to Memorial Day Weekend! Three day weekends are truly my jam.

So this weekend my sweet friends and former roommates had a graduation party in Lubbock.  We had planned on being there for it but now that I've started working I don't get off until 5:30. That means we wouldn't have made it to Lubbock until about 7:30 or 8 and would have had to drive right back the same night. So it just didn't make sense. And I was so so sad. I wanted to be there to celebrate with them just as they were there to celebrate with me last May. But alas, we didn't go. And side note, they had so much fun! I loved looking at the pictures they took. Check out the fun we missed...

They are truly the sweetest and I am so proud and excited for them in this new phase of life!

And because we didn't go, I'm pretty sure my sweet husband knew how sad I was and he said, "Let's go on a date tonight!" I was completely overjoyed! Of course we spend almost 24/7 together but we aren't very good at doing date nights where we completely focus on each other instead of the usual - whatever is on TV, whatever we're scrolling through on our phones, getting dinner cooked, bills, stress, etc. It was so good to get out of the apartment and go do something fun together!

Friday night after I got off work we had dinner at La Mision, a local mexican restaurant that I've never been to! Ryan used to eat there as a kid when he lived here and it was great! The service was wonderful, food was so good and we just enjoyed each other's company.

After dinner we dropped off out leftovers at the apartment and headed to this little carnival in town. It only has a few rides but we thought it would be fun to walk around and hang out! We ended up riding the ferris wheel, which I thought was so much fun! Ryan was a little nervous when it went fast ;) We got a funnel cake and downed it so fast...it was SO good. I've forgotten how yummy those things are! Fattening of course but so tasty!

After the carnival I assumed we were heading home.  I was ready to get in my pjs and just relax.  But of course, Ryan had something up his sleeve.  He missed the exit to go to our apartment and I looked up and said... "Wait, where are we going?" He smirked and wouldn't tell me. A few minutes later we pull up to THE DRIVE-IN.

He got us tickets to see Pitch Perfect 2. (It was great, by the way!) And let me tell you...if you know me at all or if you've been reading here for any amount of time you probably know, I have wanted to go to the drive-in for SO LONG. I never went in Lubbock because I wanted to go on a date there. This was before Ryan and I even met! And he knew how much I wanted to go so he took me! And it was so perfect to finally do this one thing I've wanted to do for so long - and it was on a date with my HUSBAND. Sometimes I still pinch myself thinking about the fact that he loves me and chose to marry me! It's just too cool.

The rest of our weekend was wonderful.  Saturday we had breakfast as usual, with a few guests!  We relaxed at home for a bit and watched a movie.  Then we went to church for a seminar on the Holy Spirit - it was great! And followed that up by hanging out with some friends in Odessa. Sunday we went to church, had lunch with church friends at another new place for me, Mi Piaci. We relaxed at home a bit more and then went to Community Group! It was just such a refreshing, full weekend! Looking forward to more of that this coming weekend.

I could go on and on - but to spare you the extensive reading time I'll just come back tomorrow! Thanks so much for reading and supporting this sweet blog of mine :)  I love it and love that people even read!

The Adventures of Ryan and Meredith

Me and my babe have been soooo enjoying our new home.  And when I say "home" I of course mean this town...not our 600 square foot apartment that costs us more per month than our 3 bedroom, 2 bath rent house in Lubbock :)  But I'm totally not complaining!

Since we got here about two and a half weeks ago, we have been busy, busy people.  We are loving our church and the basically instant community that we have there, we are enjoying having down-sized - really we love the coziness!  We have also spent tons of time with Ryan's siblings and our precious nieces and nephews!

Just a little house project I did last week!

Porter turned two on May 3rd and we were total dog parents ;)

To celebrate we took him to run and play at the dog park!

 And we wiped him out!

Porter is obsessed with this golf ball

We went to a Midland Rockhounds game this past weekend with my mother-in-law and our siblings!

And of course we had to end the night with ice cream out of a helmet bowl!

It's been a joy to make this transition with my husband.  I will say there have been really hard days as I'm in a brand new place (Ryan is from this area), attempting to make brand new friends like the first day of kindergarten (which I didn't actually attend back in 1997), but my love has been with me emotionally through every hardship.  Of course we haven't even been here a month yet but I'm getting really comfortable, enjoying the change in scenery, and loving helping out with our church.

In other news, I'm a nanny again!  HALLELUJAH.  Nannying is truly a joy, and this time around my precious girl has special needs.  Today was only day two so I'm still getting to know her, she's getting to know me and I'm starting to learn her schedule.  Day one was just really really rough.  I won't sugar coat it...I came home crying and Ryan helped me through the "It will get better" and "It was only the first day" and "She's still getting to know you".  All of which is so true and so helpful.

We are excited and anticipatory about our future here in Midland!  We can't wait to buy a house, have our babies, adopt some babies and just really put down in this area!  Thanking Jesus for his incredible provision.
