Hello Sweet Cheer: April 2016

34 week bumpdate

33 weeks!

How far along: 34 weeks

Size of babe: A average cantaloupe...whatever size that is ;) About 19 inches long and closing in on FIVE pounds!

Gender: IT'S A BOY!! We can't wait to meet our son, Titus Matthew!

Husband: Lately Ryan has gotten a lot more comfortable talking to our baby! Titus has started to react a lot more to pushing on my belly and to Ryan's voice. It has been so much fun to just spend time together interacting with our boy. Ryan is definitely getting more excited and feeling like it's more real!!

Maternity Clothes: I love wearing Ryan's athletic shorts, so comfy and actually fit around my belly. Mostly wearing his clothes and just bigger things I have.

Loving: Feeling his little booty! He always has his butt up on the right side of my belly and I love it, it's the cutest thing and so fun that he seems to always go back to that spot.

Loathing: The emotional roller coaster...........it. is. real.

Belly Button: Basically an in-between-y! It's about halfway out, not sure if it will ever be a true outtie!

Movement: So much!!

Symptoms: Crazy emotions, itchy belly, some random sharp pains and I've had a total of about 5 Braxton Hicks contractions.

Best Part of the Week: Our second baby shower!!! We had so much fun in McKinney at my "Fox in Socks" shower given my mama and sisters! Check out my first shower here. I'll be recapping this last shower very soon!

Worst Part of the Week: Emotions...have I said that I'm emotional yet? I'm so up and down. It's frustrating.

Missing Most: Still tummy sleeping, sushi and for some reason I've been wanting a margarita! Probably because it's getting warmer outside!

Can't wait for: These next six weeks to fly by! So ready to meet our sweet, sweet son!

I know it looks like I'm yawning (which would make sense) but I'm actually stretching out my face for a better smile! Haha!

I love this man!!! I cannot wait to see him as a daddy!

Woodlands Themed Baby Shower

Happppppy Tuesday!

Today I wanted to recap our couple's baby shower from this beginning of this month! It was so much fun and I am so incredibly thankful to my two dear friends, Jessica and Allison, for throwing it for us!

These two are the sweetest :)

They used chalkboards of course, because I'm obsessed! And we had to yummiest breakfast food since it was a morning shower! There were donuts, muffins, fruit, sausage balls, yogurt, pigs in a blanket....mmm I'm getting hungry thinking about it! ;)

We ate, chatted, and hung out with friends and then opened gifts! We feel SO blessed by the generosity of everyone there! We got tons of cute clothes for our boy and lots of essentials!!

Thank you again, Jess and Alli! It was the sweetest time and we are so grateful.

Tuesday Favorites: Small Shops

Happy Tuesday!! Lately I've been perusing through Instagram on the daily! I love to find new blogs to follow, moms who are at the some point in their pregnancy as I am, other mamas planning natural births and SHOPS. I love Instagram shops so much. They almost always have a website as well but I love checking out their products on their Instagram pages. Here are just a few I have found and fell in LOVE with recently!

I have to say the mom t-shirt and coffee cup sleeve are my two favs! And I plan to snag one of each when the budget allows!!! :) Oh and that diaper bag...in my dreams but so beautiful!

C A T H E R I N E    M A S O N

I LOVE this coffee cup sleeve and all the other ones this shop makes! Can't get enough. Such a practical thing for a busy mama to have! I am all about Starbucks and this could even work well for a mug from home! Check out her website and Instagram!

C O C O & K I W I

This diaper bag.....I'm head over heels! I found this shop and immediately realized I love everything they post! They have some super cute and stylish stuff for mamas! Check out their website and Instagram.

This shirt...I feel like it's just so accurate! And I love these colors - it comes in more though. They have tons more great stuff so check out their website and Instagram!

These next two I found on Instagram but they both run Etsy shops!

K B  C U T E

The first thing I fell in love with from this shop was this adorable boppy cover! I have had so much trouble finding boppy covers that don't look too childish for a boy. It seems like girl patterns are so much more sophisticated and then you look at boy stuff and the patterns and colors just aren't my style. That's the reason I love this so much - it's stylish and so cute for a baby boy! Check her out on Instagram and Etsy. She also has some adorable blankets and sweet headbands!

S L E E P Y   T R I B E

This shop has a lot of super cute personalized items! This blanket pictured says, "Hello" but they also have listings where you can customize it with baby's name! Not to mention their products are handmade - so special! Lots of sweet items in this shop. Check out their Instagram and Etsy!

Weekend Update

Happiest of Mondays!!!

We had such a sweet weekend! I hope yours was great, too. This was one of the first weekends in a while that we didn't have anything specific planned, we didn't have to get up to go anywhere Saturday morning, and we just got to spend intentional time with each other. Lately that time seems so much more precious to us as we realize our days of being a family of two are numbered!

Friday evening we had dinner with one of Ryan's co-workers! He offered to take us to dinner and we were happy to spend some time getting to know him a little better. Ryan knows him pretty well of course, and I've heard lots but it was good to hang out and chat over a good meal. We ate at Michael's (no not the craft store, a local lunch/dinner spot) and it was great. Much thanks to Brandon for dinner!

After dinner we just relaxed at home and enjoyed our evening together.

Following a great Friday night, we got to sleep in Saturday morning! Which was so much fun. I just love waking up, looking over and seeing my sweet husband and knowing we don't have to get out of bed anytime soon! We slept until about 8:30am and then got up to shower and have some breakfast sandwiches. We had eggs, bacon and sausage on biscuits and they were so yummy!

After breakfast we finished getting ready and headed over to try out a new coffee shop! It's called Cabin Creek Coffee & Tea and it is replacing what used to be Tea2Go. The one time I went to Tea2Go I really didn't like it. I didn't like the tea I got but more than that I just didn't enjoy the atmosphere. So I was super excited to try out the new place. It had a great, peaceful feeling with twinkle lights hanging from ceiling! Who doesn't look a few strings of twinkle lights?! Not to mention, the coffee was great!

Then we headed to the ball fields to watch our nephew play in his baseball tournament! It was great to see a bunch of family members and cheer on Ethan! Then we spent the afternoon hanging with our friends Nate and Krishna before we headed home to rest and get ready for date night! We really felt like we just needed an intentional evening together. Life has been busy and crazy lately and it's only about to get busier and crazier! So we drove out to Andrews, TX and ate dinner at Buddy's Drive-In. They're famous for their steak fingers so that's just what we got - and let me tell you... SO SO good! It was a sweet little place and we loved just talking and enjoying each other's company.

Then we drove about 2 miles up the road to attend a concert! There really isn't a lot of music around these parts - at least music we like ;) So when we heard that For King and Country would be in town with KB we jumped on it! They were such awesome performers and we had such a fun time! You'll have to check out my husband's latest vlog on his YouTube channel! There will be lots of clips from the concert and our weekend when the new video goes up tomorrow!

Sunday was normal - church, leftovers for lunch and a nap for this mama! Hope you guys had as fulfilling and enjoyable of a weekend as we did!

32 week bumpdate

31 weeks

How far along: 32 weeks

Size of babe: A squash! Around 18 inches and almost 4 pounds!

Gender: IT'S A BOY!! We can't wait to meet our son, Titus Matthew!

Husband: Ryan is such a sweet dad-to-be. He can't wait to meet his son and I can't wait to watch him be a daddy!

Maternity Clothes: All about those leggings!

Loving: Knowing where his head and feet are! It's so fun to be able to tell how he's positioned in my belly, he flips around all the time!

Loathing: Feeling so tired. I definitely have a good amount of energy once I'm up but naps are my best friend these days!

Belly Button: One side pokes out at all times now! It's so funny looking.

Movement: Tons! And he responds to Ryan's voice and to music now!

Symptoms: My belly is getting so itchy!

Best Part of the Week: Our natural childbirth class! We had it on Saturday and it was AMAZING. We learned so many good strategies and ways to work through contractions, learned even more than we already knew about our choice to have a natural birth and we walked away so confident that we've made the right decision for us and our baby boy! We are so ready for him to be here!!

Quick side note - If you're having a baby in the Midland/Odessa area you MUST take this class! It's by Nurture Me Birth Services and they are amazing. And if you're wanting a natural birth in the hospital, they are doulas... hire them!! :)

Worst Part of the Week: Emotions...have I said that I'm emotional yet? I'm so up and down. It's frustrating.

Missing Most: Sleeping on my tummy!

Can't wait for: My baby shower at home in McKinney! It's only about a week and a half away - so exciting :)

Here is a tiny sneak peak of Titus' nursery - we have progress but a long way to go!

Stay tuned for a complete recap of my Woodlands Themed Baby Shower from last weekend!

Grocery Shopping || How to Stay Organized and On Budget

Happy Thursday!

Being that I'm not working for the remainder of my pregnancy and beyond, most of my responsibilities pertain to our home. I do laundry every other day, vacuum, sweep and mop as often as possible, wash dishes and most importantly (in my opinion) I do the bulk of the cooking/grocery shopping around here! I prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner most days of the week so today I thought I would share a little bit about what we eat at our house and a few tips to stay organized and on top of the grocery budget!

Each week I sit down with my planner and write out our week in meals. I always start at Tuesday because that's the day I shop! I take into account dinner plans we have with friends, busy evenings when we need to have something quick, etc. I plan out seven days of dinners and usually write in at least one day to eat leftovers because with only two people in the house - it's necessary!

Making a menu is truly the only way I can keep my head on straight! And it makes for using less brain power each day - dinner is already decided!

I find making one big shopping trip once a week so much easier than going twice a month or taking small trips multiple times through out the week. After I have our meals planned, I go into the kitchen see what ingredients I need to pick up to complete all the recipes. I then make my grocery list right under my menu with everything I'll need for the week. I add other items we are out of that have usually been jotted down on our whiteboard as we have run out. I also check for any breakfast items we might need or brainstorm a new breakfast idea from time to time. I always try to stay stocked up on fruit - I eat a lot more fruit than my husband but I like to keep apples, bananas and strawberries on hand at all times. I also keep cucumbers and carrots in the fridge to have as a healthy snack. Shopping once a week makes it so easy to keep fruits and veggies on hand without them going bad! We tend to always have leftovers for lunch so I don't worry about that!  I also check our bathroom for any toiletries we need so that again - I don't have to make a second trip that week.

I then organize my list in the order I walk through my grocery store. I start with produce and move through the store hitting each section in the order it is laid out. It takes some planning but my grocery trips are so much quicker and more efficient when I do them this way! I can only imagine how helpful this will be when I have a baby strapped to me at all times ;)

All four of these things help me to stay on our grocery budget, but I would say the most important thing is to HAVE a budget and know how to keep track of it. Find a tool that works well for your family and go for it. Budgeting is such an important part of managing your money - even if you don't have very much! We personally like to use the website Mint. It helps to show us exactly how much money we have and it connects straight to our bank account so we don't have to enter a purchase every single time we buy something. I just go in and make sure everything is filtering into the correct category so we know where every penny is going! Once you have a budget in place, take your monthly grocery budget and divide it by however many trips you plan to make that month. For me, I usually go four times a month, depending on the month, so I divide by four to be sure that I'm only spending 1/4 of the grocery budget at each shopping trip.

- - -

So that's how I plan things out and try to keep us organized and on our grocery budget! It's super helpful to go to the store once a week, with a very specific plan of what to get, covering everything we'll need until the next week.  I hope some of these tips were helpful, even though they are pretty basic. They sure do help us to stay organized!

Let me know in the comments if you have questions or if YOU have any good tips that might help us out! Stay tuned for the details on some of our favorite recipes!
